Greatcoats are designed by Linda Letts and made together with her daughter Eva.
LINDA I designed my first greatcoat during a particularly bleak New York winter. I wanted an inexpensive coat that would keep me warm and snug, but it had to be glamorous too, a balance of fashion and function.
I wanted the coat to last and be easy to look after.
The coat attracted a lot of attention, so much so that I made some more and began selling them at a local street market. Soon I quit my job and started making the coats full time. Nine years ago I relocated to the Bay Area to be with my family. Customers still tell me that the coats attract much positive comment. Nowadays my role in the company is to finish each piece we produce in addition to exploring new designs and materials for the future.
EVA I have always been hooked on fashion of all kinds and my passion for fashion was a great fit with my mothers coats.
When Mum said let’s work together I was a sewing rookie but after nine years my role is to make each piece in a speedy, professional way that I never thought was possible when I began. Now I model them and make them and sell them and help design them too. Working with my Mum is really fun, watching her vision develop and being a part of her creative process is very rewarding.
The collection keeps on getting better and better.
